Dr. Juan José Torrent, the first oncological surgeon accredited in Spain to operate with the Da Vinci 5

Last week, Dr. Juan José Torrent completed the official training in London for the use of the Da Vinci 5 robotic system, becoming the first gynecological oncology surgeon accredited in Spain to operate it.

The Da Vinci 5 is the latest generation in minimally invasive robotic surgery and represents a significant advance in the treatment of gynecological tumors. It features more than 150 improvements over previous versions, with advances in imaging, ergonomics and precision.

Among its most notable innovations is force feedback, which allows the surgeon to sense tissue resistance from the console, achieving finer control during the procedure. It also makes it possible to review the previous steps of the surgery in real time to confirm or correct the surgical plane.

For patients, this translates into more precise procedures on delicate tissues, with small incisions, less postoperative pain and a faster recovery.

Frequently asked questions about the Da Vinci 5

What is the Da Vinci 5 system?

The Da Vinci 5 is the latest generation of surgical robot for minimally invasive robotic surgery. It features more than 150 improvements over previous versions, with advances in imaging, ergonomics and precision, and introduces force feedback, which allows the surgeon to sense tissue resistance from the console.

What does the Da Vinci 5 force feedback provide?

Force feedback allows the surgeon to feel the tension and resistance of tissues through the instruments, achieving finer control during the procedure and safer handling of delicate structures.

What are the benefits of Da Vinci 5 surgery for patients?

It means more precise procedures on delicate tissues, with small incisions, less postoperative pain, lower risk of complications and a faster recovery.

Which gynecological tumors is robotic surgery used for?

Robotic surgery is used in the treatment of gynecological tumors such as endometrial cancer, cervical cancer and selected cases of ovarian cancer, always after an individualized assessment of each patient by the medical team.

Who is the first surgeon accredited in Spain to operate with the Da Vinci 5?

Dr. Juan José Torrent, founder and oncological surgeon at Quenet Torrent Institute, is the first gynecological oncology surgeon accredited in Spain to operate the Da Vinci 5 system, after completing the official training in London.
